Impotence Rx: Reduce Stress and Fatty Food
Most doctors will admit they just don't know what causes male impotence in many cases. But in Italy, where nearly one-fifth of men aged 25 to 60 seek treatment for it, urologists now claim to have a possible cure that involves cutting animal fat out of the diet. A story from The Times explains that for many men, diet may contribute to impotence. The culprits? Greasy meats, including bacon, sausage, roast pork and "anything cooked in lard." A variety of vegetables, fish, and nuts are recommended instead. Chocolate is allowed, too -- "as much as you like." Before trying the potency diet, men should probably check with their physician. The reason: Impotence can be caused by treatable medical conditions, or it may be the first sign of more serious problems such as diabetes. Australia's paper The Age notes that impotence can signal the presence of heart disease, too. The U.S. National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases explains how impotence is diagnosed. When stress is the cause, a number of therapies can relieve impotence without drugs, as a feature from Toronto's C-Health explains.
